Company Intelligence

Let Tiquo AI set each customer's role at their company and suggest company profiles from work email addresses

Company Intelligence is a Tiquo AI feature for businesses whose customers belong to other companies, such as corporate clients, agencies, or tenants. It does three things:

  • Customer roles: identifies the role each customer holds at their company, such as owner, executive, or manager, so you can see who the decision makers are at a glance.
  • Company suggestions: spots customers whose work email address belongs to a company you don't have a profile for yet, and lets you create that profile in one click.
  • Company logos: finds a company's logo on its website when you add the company, instead of using the website's small icon.

Company Intelligence is on by default. You can turn it off at any time under Settings > Tiquo AI. See Turn Company Intelligence on or off.

Customer roles

Every customer linked to a company has a Role. Customers matched to a company by their email domain start with the Employee role.

When a customer is linked to a company, Company Intelligence looks up publicly available information about them, such as the company's own website and public professional profiles. It then sets the role that matches their position:

  • Owner: founders, co-founders, owners, and principal shareholders.
  • Executive: C-level leaders, presidents, managing directors, general managers, partners, vice presidents, and board directors.
  • Manager: managers, heads of a team or department, team leads, and supervisors.
  • Employee: other members of staff.
  • Contractor: freelancers, consultants, and agencies working for the company.
  • Contact: shared mailboxes such as info@ or bookings@, and people who deal with you on the company's behalf without being on its staff.
  • Other: known connections that fit none of the above, such as investors or advisers.

When roles are researched

Company Intelligence researches a customer's role automatically whenever they become linked to a company, including when:

  • a company is created and customers are matched by its email domains
  • a new or existing customer with a matching work email address is linked
  • staff add a customer to a company
  • an integration links a customer to a company
  • a customer who was removed from a company is restored

Roles update in the background as each customer is researched, so a company with many customers takes longer to complete.

Research roles for existing customers

Customers who were linked to a company before Company Intelligence was turned on aren't researched automatically. To research them:

  1. Open the company's detail page.
  2. Open the Company Actions menu (⋯) at the top of the page.
  3. Select Research roles with Tiquo AI.

The roles update in the Customers tab as each one is found.

Research roles with Tiquo AI appears only when every customer linked to the company still has the Employee role. It is hidden while research for the company is in progress, after any customer's role has changed, and when Company Intelligence is turned off. Only customers with the Employee role are researched, so a role your team has chosen is never changed.

Review a role

A role set or confirmed by Company Intelligence shows a sparkle icon beside it in the company's Customers tab. Hover over the icon to see:

  • the job title that was found
  • a short summary of the evidence
  • the websites the information came from

You can change a customer's role at any time from the company detail page or the customer profile. Once you choose a different role, the sparkle icon is no longer shown for that customer.

What Company Intelligence changes

Company Intelligence only updates the Role of a customer who is already linked to a company. It:

  • never creates customers, companies, or links between them
  • never changes job titles, departments, primary contacts, or company admins
  • only changes a role when the information clearly identifies that person at that company, and otherwise leaves the role as it is
  • keeps the role your team chose if someone changes it while research is in progress

Privacy

  • Company Intelligence looks up a customer using their name, the part of their email address before the @, and the company's public details, such as its name, website, and location. It doesn't use orders, bookings, notes, payment details, or any other customer information.
  • Customers with an alias are never researched, so their real name isn't looked up.
  • What Company Intelligence found about a customer is included when you export that customer's data. It is deleted along with the customer's link to the company, for example when the customer or the company is deleted.

Company suggestions on customer profiles

When a customer isn't linked to any company, their profile checks their email addresses for a work domain. If the domain belongs to a company you don't have a profile for yet, the profile shows the company's name in place of No company, with a Create company profile button.

  • Personal addresses are ignored: free and personal email providers, such as Gmail, Hotmail, Outlook, iCloud, and internet-provider addresses, are never suggested as companies.
  • Temporary addresses are ignored: disposable and throwaway inboxes are never suggested.
  • Relay addresses are ignored: private relay addresses, such as Apple's Hide My Email and booking-platform guest addresses, don't identify a customer's employer, so they are never suggested.
  • Existing companies aren't suggested again: if a company in your organisation already uses the domain, the profile shows no suggestion.
  • The company's own name is used: the suggestion uses the name the company's website gives itself. If the website doesn't state one, Tiquo AI identifies the company behind the domain. If no name can be found, the domain itself is shown.

Create a company from a customer profile

  1. Open the customer's profile.
  2. Beside the suggested company name, select Create company profile.
  3. Review the Add New Company form. The website, email domain, logo, and, when it was found, the trading name are already filled in.
  4. Select Create Company.

Tiquo then links every customer with that email domain to the new company, including the customer you started from, and Company Intelligence researches their roles.

The suggestion is shown to staff with the Create customers & companies permission. It is hidden when Company Intelligence is turned off.

Company logos

With Company Intelligence on, adding a company's website to the company form finds the company's logo on that website. Tiquo AI checks that the image is the company's own logo and prepares a sharp, square version. If no logo can be confirmed, the website's icon is used instead. See Company logo for details.

Turn Company Intelligence on or off

  1. Open Settings and select Tiquo AI.
  2. In the Customer Intelligence section, find Company Intelligence.
  3. Use the switch to turn it on or off.

Changing this setting requires the Manage organization settings permission. The change applies to your whole organisation.

When Company Intelligence is turned off:

  • Customers linked to companies aren't researched, and research that hasn't started yet is cancelled.
  • Research roles with Tiquo AI is hidden from the Company Actions menu.
  • Customer profiles show No company instead of a company suggestion.
  • The company form uses the website's icon as the company logo instead of finding the logo on the website.
  • Roles and logos that were already set stay as they are.
