Kitchen display workflow

Run station and expo screens, recall tickets, and time preparation within a round.

Create digital stations in Sublocation Settings > KDS Locations, then route products to the preparation areas that handle them. Select the appropriate KDS location on the staff device before service.

Stations and expo

A station shows its routed items. When an Expo screen exists for the parent location, stations mark finished items ready for expo; expo manages whole-order delivery. Bulk actions apply to the selected screen's scope.

Use the screen's recall feed when a completed ticket needs to return to the active workflow. Check the table or customer headline and the individual items before updating its state.

HOLD, FIRE, and preparation time

HOLD keeps a course from entering preparation until staff release it. FIRE sends it into the kitchen workflow. Direct Fire items begin immediately when that stage is enabled.

Set Prep time (minutes) on products that need preparation timing. Within a fired round, items with shorter prep times can wait so they finish with the longest-preparation item. An item without a prep time has no calculated wait.

A ticket's elapsed timer helps staff see how long it has been waiting. Configure Amber after and Red after under the sublocation's KDS settings. Supported screens also accept bump-bar controls for ticket actions.

See work sent to a printer

On an expo location, enable Show printed order tickets to include work routed to physical Order Tickets locations. Supported Tiquo App screens label these cards Sent to Printer and show the send time.

These cards are display-only: staff cannot bump them as digital tickets. They disappear when the order is paid or closed, and are hidden while a stage filter is selected or the device is offline. The label records routing to the printer, not confirmation that paper came out.

For orders with several guest names, each line can identify its person. Shared products stay shared.

Printed ticket stations

A KDS location in Order Tickets mode prints its tickets instead of showing them on a screen. Its Assigned Printer lists the printers connected to devices running Tiquo App, by host device, printer, connection, and sublocation, with an Online or Offline status. Leave it on Any available printer to print on a device signed in to the order's sublocation, or choose a printer so the station's tickets always print there, even when its host device is signed in to another sublocation. A printer marked Reconnect on its device to assign has not registered yet: reconnect it in Tiquo App on its host device, then choose it. See Receipt Printers.

Allergen warnings

Kitchen tickets and KDS cards carry an allergen warning when the order has one. The warning lists the customer's allergen details recorded at the POS, when staff were asked about allergens, and the allergens configured on the products in the order. Tickets printed when a held course is released carry the same warning. Kitchen tickets for online orders list the allergens configured on their products.

Configure the prompt with Ask about allergens in Sublocation Settings, and each product's allergens in its Allergens field.

Void tickets

Open Sublocation Settings > KDS Locations and find Void tickets under Ticket layout. It decides what the kitchen gets when an item it already has is voided on an open tab:

  • Print automatically (the default): voiding an item the kitchen already has prints a VOID ticket at its station straight away.
  • Ask staff each time: Tiquo App and Tiquo PDQ ask whether to print after each void. Voiding a whole tab still prints.
  • Don't print: the kitchen gets no VOID tickets. Tell the kitchen in person.

Wasted items never print, because the dish was made.

When a whole open tab is voided, whether its last line is voided on the POS or the tab is cancelled from the dashboard, each printed ticket station with lines on paper gets one VOID ticket. It lists every line that station has, struck through: fired lines, lines printed under HOLD, and lines voided earlier. Lines that were never sent and wasted lines are left off. Merging tabs does not print a VOID ticket. A course whose lines were all voided earlier keeps its heading on the ticket.

A voided line in a held course never fires. Releasing the course leaves it off the FIRE ticket, and its cancelled status stays.

See Restaurant and Bar POS for rounds, kitchen messages, seats, and tab transfers.
