Integrations

Shopify

Install Tiquo from the Shopify App Store to import your store's customers, marketing consent, B2B companies, orders and abandoned checkouts.

The Shopify integration brings an online store's customers and sales into Tiquo, so online orders sit next to bookings, memberships and in-venue sales on each customer's profile. Data only travels from Shopify to Tiquo: Tiquo never writes to your store.

What the integration imports

ShopifyTiquo
CustomersCustomers, with their name, email, phone, default address, and Shopify note and tags
Email and SMS marketing consentThe customer's email and SMS marketing opt-in
B2B companiesCompanies, with their Shopify contacts linked to the company
OrdersLegacy orders on the sublocation you choose
Abandoned checkoutsLegacy lost carts on the customer

Tiquo imports your full history, from the first customer and order, then checks Shopify for changes every 15 minutes. Shopify keeps the payments and receipts for everything it sold.

Before you begin

You need:

  • The Manage integrations permission in Tiquo. Unlike most integrations, Shopify doesn't have to be connected by Tiquo: anyone with this permission can connect it.
  • Permission to install apps on the Shopify store.
  • A Tiquo sublocation for Shopify orders.

Connect your store

Installs always start in Shopify, so there is no store address to type into Tiquo.

  1. In Tiquo, open Settings > Integrations, find Shopify and select Connect. The Shopify App Store opens in a new tab. You can also find Tiquo in the App Store yourself.
  2. Install Tiquo on your store. Shopify then sends you to Tiquo.
  3. Sign in to Tiquo if asked. If you belong to several organisations, switch to the one the store belongs to.
  4. On Connect Shopify to Tiquo, select Connect to followed by your organisation's name.
  5. Tiquo opens Settings > Integrations. Open the actions menu on the Shopify card and select Settings.
  6. Choose the Tiquo sublocation for Shopify orders, turn on Shopify to Tiquo, and select Save settings.

The first import starts when you save. A large store's first import is spread over several runs, so allow some time before checking that every order has arrived.

If Tiquo says the install link is incomplete or has expired, open Tiquo again from your Shopify admin to get a new one.

Settings

Open Settings on the Shopify card to change these at any time:

  • Shopify to Tiquo turns the import on or off.
  • Tiquo sublocation for Shopify orders is where new orders and abandoned checkouts are created. Changing it applies to orders imported from then on. Orders already imported stay where they are. Saving with the import on requires a sublocation.
  • Conflicting customer changes decides what happens when a customer exists in both Shopify and Tiquo and has changed in both: Newest update wins, Shopify wins or Tiquo wins.

Each Shopify customer is linked to a Tiquo customer. A Shopify customer whose email matches an existing Tiquo customer is linked to that customer instead of creating a duplicate.

Marketing consent follows Shopify's subscribes and unsubscribes:

  • A customer who subscribes in Shopify is opted in, with the date Shopify recorded.
  • A customer who unsubscribes in Shopify is opted out, unless they opted in again in Tiquo after that.
  • Customers who are not subscribed, or are still waiting for double opt-in, keep the consent they already have in Tiquo.

Orders

Shopify orders arrive as legacy orders numbered SHOPIFY- followed by the Shopify order number, with their lines, refunds and customer. B2B orders are also linked to their company. They appear in the customer's order history and count towards the customer's spend.

Because Shopify took the payment and issued the receipt:

  • Tiquo doesn't issue a receipt or invoice for these orders.
  • Legacy orders can't be cancelled or refunded in Tiquo. Make refunds and cancellations in Shopify, and the next check updates the Tiquo order.

Orders deleted in Shopify stay in Tiquo, because orders are financial records. Shopify test orders are skipped. If you already imported your Shopify history from a CSV export, an order with the same number and total is matched to the existing legacy order instead of being imported twice.

Orders older than 60 days are imported only once Shopify has approved Tiquo's access to all orders.

Abandoned checkouts

A checkout the customer left without paying becomes a legacy lost cart on that customer, numbered SHOPIFY-CART- followed by its Shopify ID, and the customer's activity shows that they left a cart on Shopify. Lost carts feed lost-cart segments and lists, so you can use them in win-back campaigns. Importing a cart never sends Tiquo's own lost-cart messages.

Checkouts without a customer are skipped. When the customer later completes the purchase, the Shopify order is imported and the lost cart is closed, so nobody follows up on a sale that already happened.

B2B companies

Stores on a Shopify plan with B2B import their companies, with their contacts linked to the company. Stores without B2B import no companies.

Shopify privacy requests

Shopify forwards customer privacy requests to every app installed on a store. Tiquo handles them for you:

  • Customer data request: Tiquo creates a task, due in 30 days, named Shopify customer data request. If the customer is in Tiquo, the task is on their profile and asks you to export their data and send it to the store owner. If they aren't, it asks you to confirm to the store owner that Tiquo holds no data for them.
  • Customer erasure request: Tiquo erases its stored copies of the customer's Shopify records. A customer created by the Shopify import is then deleted from Tiquo, and their orders stay as financial records. A customer who was already in Tiquo, or who has an active membership, isn't deleted automatically: Tiquo creates a Shopify customer erasure request task so you can review what to delete.
  • Store erasure: 48 hours after a store uninstalls Tiquo, Shopify asks Tiquo to erase the store's data. Tiquo deletes its stored Shopify copies and closes the connection. The customers and orders already in Tiquo stay.

These tasks appear with your other tasks. See Tasks and How do I export a customer's data?

Monitor or disconnect

Open Settings on the Shopify card and expand Data flow health to see each import (customers, companies, orders and abandoned checkouts), how many changes were applied, and any failure. Select Retry failed imports after fixing the cause.

To stop importing, turn off Shopify to Tiquo, or disconnect under Connection. You can also uninstall Tiquo from your Shopify admin. Customers and orders already imported stay in Tiquo.
